It never even occurred to us to quit

Hi Reader!

A few years ago, Linda and I decided that we needed to get out of our comfort zones.

So we chose something that absolutely terrified us.

Ice skating. โ›ธ๏ธ

Neither of us had ever really learned how to skate.

But we decided to do it anyway. ๐Ÿ’ช

๐ŸŒฟ We Really Committed

We didn't just go once.

Or twice.

We went to the ice rink three times a week for two and a half hours each visit.

And we kept doing that for six months.

Looking back, I still can't believe we stuck with it.

๐Ÿ˜‚ The Funny Part

Now, you're probably thinking that this story ends with us gracefully skating around the rink like professionals.

It doesn't.

The sad thing is...

We still can't skate very well.

All those hours on the ice... all that practice... and we still skate like beginners.

Oh, the irony. ๐Ÿ˜†

๐Ÿ’› But Maybe That Was Never The Point

Looking back, I don't think the biggest achievement was learning to skate.

I think it was proving to ourselves that we could do something that scared us.

That we could show up again and again, even when we felt awkward and uncomfortable.

And maybe that's what getting out of our comfort zone is really about.

๐Ÿšซ Not becoming perfect.
๐Ÿšซ Not becoming the best.

But becoming a little braver than we were before.

The funny thing is that it never even occurred to us to quit.

We were scared for months.

It took a long time before we felt even a little comfortable on the ice.

But we just kept showing up.

Looking back, I think that's what courage often looks like.

Not feeling fearless.

Just deciding that fear doesn't get the final say.

๐Ÿ’ญ One Thought To Leave You With

I think we sometimes avoid new things because we're afraid we won't be good at them.

But maybe we don't have to be.

Maybe it's enough that we try.

Because every time we do something that scares us, we grow a little more confident.

And that's something worth celebrating. ๐ŸŽ‰

Now we're curious, Reader...

Have you ever done something that scared you, even if you weren't very good at it?
