Sometimes self-care is just going to bed early

Hi Reader!

Lately, Linda and I have been talking about self-care.

๐Ÿšซ Not the kind you see all over social media.
๐Ÿšซ Not spa days or elaborate morning routines.

Just the kind that asks one simple question:

What do I actually need right now?

And honestly?

The answer for both of us has been...

๐Ÿ˜ด Rest.

We've been working a lot lately, and if we're being completely honest, we're tired.

Maybe you are too, Reader? Or maybe you need the opposite - excitement and fun.

No matter what you really need right now, it's important to make a little space for it.

๐Ÿ› Self-Care Is More Than Bubble Baths

For a long time, we thought self-care had to look a certain way.

After all, that's what you often hear when people talk about self-care. It's usually things like:

๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ Doing yoga
โœ๏ธ Journaling
๐Ÿ›€ Taking a long bath
๐Ÿ“– Reading a book
๐Ÿ“ต Turning off notifications

And while those things can be wonderful, they're not always what our mind and body need most.

Sometimes it's something as simple as having a quiet moment to yourself where you don't do anything.

๐ŸŒฟ Self-Care Isn't One-Size-Fits-All

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ Sometimes you need movement.
๐Ÿ’ Sometimes you need to spend time with people you love.
๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ Sometimes you need a quiet walk outside.

And sometimes... you just need to go to bed early and get some sleep. ๐Ÿ’ค

I think we make self-care harder than it has to be because we focus on what we think we should be doing instead of listening to ourselves.

๐Ÿ’› Ask Yourself One Question

If you could give yourself exactly what you need today, what would it be?

โœ“ More rest?
โœ“ A little peace and quiet?
โœ“ A break from your phone?
โœ“ A good conversation?
โœ“ An afternoon with a good book?

The answer will be different for everyone.

And that's exactly how it should be.

๐Ÿ’ญ One Thought To Leave You With

You don't have to earn rest.

You don't have to wait until you're completely exhausted before taking care of yourself.

And self-care doesn't have to be productive to be valuable.

Sometimes the kindest thing you can do for yourself is simply to slow down and listen to what your mind and body have been trying to tell you. ๐Ÿ’›

Now we'd love to hear from you, Reader...

What does self-care look like for you right now?
