Hi Reader!
Have you ever noticed that most personal development advice focuses on how to handle failure?
โ
Keep learning.
โ
Keep improving.
โ
Keep going.
And while we think that's important, there's another part of growth that rarely gets discussed.
How do you react when things actually start working?
๐ญ The Part Growth Mindset Doesn't Talk About
My sister Linda and I have always liked the idea of a growth mindset.
โ
The belief that skills can be learned.
โ
That we can improve.
โ
That things can change.
And honestly, we do have a growth mindset when it comes to action.
โ We keep learning.
โ Keep creating.
โ Keep showing up.
We don't give up when progress is slow.
We don't give up when things take longer than expected.
And we don't give up just because we can't see immediate results.
And that made us realize something interesting:
It's possible to have a growth mindset when it comes to effort...
โ
...and still have a fixed mindset when it comes to success.
๐ Personal Insight
Over the years, we've worked very hard on our websites, but results have been slow to come.
So whenever we got a bigger result than usual, our reaction wasn't:
"Great. Let's keep going." ๐
It was often more like:
"Whoa."
"Is this real?"
"What if we lose it?"
And when the results eventually went down again, we felt awful.
It was almost like we'd been given something we weren't supposed to have in the first place.
Like there had been some kind of mistake.
Or success had accidentally landed in the wrong place. ๐ฌ
We know that sounds strange.
But have you ever felt that, Reader?
Sometimes when good things happen, we're so busy worrying about losing them that we never fully enjoy them.
โจ Why We Think This Happens
The longer you've struggled with something, the bigger success can seem when it finally arrives.
It feels unusual.
Unexpected.
Almost too good to be true.
And when something feels too big, it's easy to put it on a pedestal.
The problem is that once we put something on a pedestal, we also become afraid of losing it.
Suddenly we're not enjoying the result anymore.
We're protecting it.
Worrying about it.
Waiting for it to disappear again.
And that's exhausting.
๐ What We're Learning Instead
These days, we're trying to look at success differently.
Instead of seeing good results as something rare or extraordinary, we're trying to see them as a natural part of growth.
Because if we're learning, improving, and consistently putting in the work, then progress shouldn't feel surprising.
It should feel normal.
That doesn't mean every result will last forever.
Or that there won't be ups and downs.
But it does mean trying to stop treating success like something fragile.
Or acting as though the universe made a mistake. ๐
๐ฟ One Thought To Leave You With
Maybe growth isn't just about believing you can improve.
Maybe it's also about believing you're allowed to succeed.
And that good things don't have to disappear just because they finally showed up.
You actually deserve them. ๐
