What if self-care is eating the dessert?

Hi Reader!

Did you go traveling this summer? โœˆ๏ธ

We really love traveling.

Visiting a new place.
Relaxing.

And maybe most of all...

Breaking our daily routines for a little while.

Suddenly, life isn't just:

โ˜€๏ธ Wake up
๐Ÿฅฃ Breakfast
๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ Work out
๐Ÿฅ— Lunch
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป Work
๐Ÿฒ Dinner
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป Work some more
๐Ÿ“บ Wind down
๐Ÿ˜ด Sleep

Instead, the days are a little unpredictable.

We don't know exactly what we'll do.

We don't know where we'll end up.

And honestly, we love that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿ’› We've Never Really Understood One Thing

We've noticed that some people seem to take their routines with them wherever they go.

๐Ÿฅฌ The morning smoothie has to happen.
๐Ÿ‹๏ธ The exact workout has to happen.
๐Ÿ“… The whole schedule has to stay exactly the same.

And we're always sitting there thinking...

You're on vacation! ๐Ÿ˜„

Why not try something different?

๐ŸŒฟ Maybe Self-Care Doesn't Have To Be So Serious

๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ What if you skip the gym and go swimming instead?

๐Ÿ—บ What if you take a long walk and explore somewhere new?

๐Ÿฆ What if you try the local dessert without feeling guilty?

๐Ÿ˜Œ What if you simply let yourself enjoy the break?

To us, that sounds like self-care too.

โœจ Routines Should Support Our Lives

The funny thing is that we often create routines to reduce stress.

But sometimes we become so attached to them that breaking the routine becomes stressful instead.

And we don't think that's the point.

We think routines should support our lives, not control them.

๐Ÿ’› Some Of The Best Moments Aren't Planned

Some of our favorite travel memories weren't planned at all.

๐Ÿฅพ The unexpected walk.
โ˜• The little cafรฉ we stumbled across.
๐Ÿง The dessert we weren't planning to order.
๐Ÿฅฑ The lazy morning where absolutely nothing productive happened.

Maybe this is just our personalities, but we've always believed that a vacation should feel different from everyday life.

Of course, routines are wonderful.

They help us create structure and get things done.

But once in a while, it's good to shake things up a little too.

Don't you agree, Reader?

๐Ÿ’ญ One Thought To Leave You With

We don't think self-care should become another set of rules to follow.

It's about listening to yourself and asking:

What do I need right now?

And sometimes...

The answer might just be to put the smoothie blender away and enjoy your vacation. ๐Ÿ–

Now we're curious...

Are you someone who loves routines, or do you enjoy changing things up when you're traveling?
